Literacy Day by
UNESCO on
November 17,
1965 One in five
adults is still
not literate and
two-thirds of
them are women.
India also needs
to step up its
literacy
campaign. Each
one, teach one
can be taken up
by many more
school children. |

16th September - World Ozone Day: |

It is a day when
the Montreal
Protocol on
substances that
deplete the
ozone layer was
signed on the
16th of
September 1987
This day is
important to
reiterate our
commitment to
the environment.
With the use of
CFCS the ozone
layer is
thinning
specially at the
poles. |

International Day of Peace: |

The UN declares
this day as 'A
day of global
ceasefire, and
non-violence, an
invitation to
all nations and
people to honour
a cessation of
hostilities for
the duration of
the day'. |

This day is
celebrated to
appreciate the
benefit of
tourism in our
economy,
culture,
diplomacy etc.
Tourism
increases first
hand knowledge
of places and an
understanding of
cultures. |

28th September -Green Consumer Day: |
 |

This day would
help to
highlight the
need to reduce,
reuse and
recycle.
Recycling
resources would
reduce the
problem of
excessive
consumerism
today. |
